- The PristineBlue® water sanitation system provides totally chlorine-free disinfection for use in private swimming pools and spas and will be of interest where concerns may exist about the adverse health effects of exposure to chlorine or bromine. PristineBlue® is the system of choice used in over 500,000 swimming pools in the USA and is EPA approved. The active ingredient (copper sulphate) is EU Notified as a biocide and disinfectant. Applied in accordance with system requirements PristineBlue® can be expected to bring disinfectant cost savings up to 25% over 12 months compared with using chlorine granules and tablets.
- AFM® - Active Filter Media is a direct replacement for sand in all gravity flow or pressurised sand filter systems. It out-performs both sand and zeolites in almost every respect, resulting in cleaner, safer bathing water, and is the only filter media which is approved by the UK Drinking Water Inspectorate under Regulation 31 of The Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2001. Once in place, apart from bringing better water quality, AFM® will significantly reduce the water DAP Factor and reduce both disinfectant consumption and operating costs. About 40 public pools in the UK have changed from using sand and are now reaping the benefits of using this product instead, as are many more worldwide. (AFM® is available via this website to Trade Customers only).
- Phosphate Removers - Pool owners in the UK are beginning to realise the benefits to be had by dosing harmless Phosphate Removers. Phosphates act as a food bank for both algae and bacteria and so by removing this food source algae and bacteria growth is suppressed, reducing the demand on the sanitation system and thereby saving money. In the UK Phosphates enter pool water mostly via the mains water supply but also from garden fertilizers, clothes washing detergents and other pool chemicals.
- Chlorine-free Oxidizers - Using chlorine as a "shock" to oxidize unfilterable organic matter is difficult to apply properly even for the experts, and results in significant pool downtime while the chlorine level falls to safe bathing levels. Using a non-chlorine shock is rapidly growing in popularity as it's much easier to apply, just as effective if not more so, and the pool down time is brief (normally between 15 - 30 minutes).
- Coagulants - Dosing a coagulant is considered to be essential in maintaining healthy water. No filter by itself will remove all "undesirables" and dosing a coagulant will help the filter to trap very small particulate matter including Giardia and Cryptosporidium oocysts. (Some filter media types are not compatible with the use of coagulants so check before dosing).
