The original patented product and in our view probably the best filter media on the market - Activated Filter Media (AFM®).

AFM® is manufactured by Dryden Aqua Ltd in Scotland and has been especially processed to have surface active properties which enhance its bactericidal effectiveness and water cleaning performance.

Active Filter Media (AFM®) Grade 3. Use this product as a filter gravel (bottom layer, 15% of filter bed volume) with AFM®2 as the middle layer (15% of filter bed volume) and AFM®1 as the top layer (70% of filter bed volume) as a replacement for 16/30 sand in any gravity flow or pressurised filters.

Private domestic swimming pools do not usually require this grade of product to be used in the filter. Instead use 30% AFM® 2 as the bottom layer and 70% AFM® 1 as the top layer.

The grade can be used as a filter gravel with any other filter media (sand, Zeoclere 30 etc)

PLEASE NOTE that AFM® is NOT crushed glass which we consider should not be allowed anywhere near a pool at all...EVER!! If it doesn't say AFM® on the bag it isn't AFM® in the bag.
